The walk on Sunday 25th March was on the Port Path, officially described by Walk NI as “Causeway Coast Way, Section 1”. (See map below)  On a bright sunny morning 21 walkers assembled in the car park of Portstewart Golf Club to walk the 5 miles along the coast to Portrush.  The first part is along the walkway that leads from the strand to the promenade in the centre of Portstewart.   At the harbour the path rises out of the town onto the cliff-top before threading its way eastwards between the golf courses and the sea.  At every turn there were magnificent views of the sea and coast in an area noted for its outstanding natural beauty.  After a couple of hours of easy pleasant rambling the party arrived in Portrush and had lunch on the promenade overlooking the West Strand.   The return walk to Portstewart was on the shared cycle/footpath that runs along the side of the main coast road.  The lure of coffee and scones in the Golf Club meant this segment was taken at  a brisk pace.  Sincere thanks were expressed to Club Chairperson, Anne McGarvey for organising such a lovely walk on such a lovely day in a much-loved part of the Province.
