On Sunday, 3rd June 2018, ‘The Ramblers’ enjoyed a lovely walk in the Bluestacks. Cloghmeen Hill was a perfect choice for a balmy summer Sunday. Parking in the Lettermore area a gentle climb following the well-marked Bluestack Way brought the walkers up over the hill to then descend in the Doobin area along the Owenroe River. Blessed with sunshine, an occasional gentle breeze and with a little cloud to provide respite from the rays the walkers appreciated all the views the Bluestacks have to offer. The stacks were busy as many people from surrounding areas climbed neighbouring Carnaween on what was the traditional Carn Sunday. The ground was unusually dry with some soft spots as expected. One rambler did find, and test for depth, a bog hole and another declared it the first time to feel warm on the Bluestacks. Tea, coffee and scones were enjoyed by all in the recently re-furbished and newly named ‘The Thatch’ in Glenties.
