On Saturday 18th August 2018, 15 West Tyrone Ramblers enjoyed a 7 mile walk through part of the Carrigan Forest approximately 6 miles west of Derrygonnelly. The Lough Formal Loop is a moderate walk mostly on forest paths with fabulous views from Formal More; Lough Melvin, Donegal Bay, Cuilcagh Mountain and Little Dog and Big Dog hills were clearly visible. This whole area is part of the Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark which contains some of the finest landscapes in the north of Ireland, from rugged uplands, lakes and forests through to gently rolling drumlins. After the walk the Ramblers partook of tea and scones in the Tir Navar Holiday Village in Derrygonnelly, run by the welcoming Amy and Liam Jones.
