On 18/01/20 Twenty Eight W.T.R.s crossed the Mamore Gap on the Inishowen Peninsula to climb a rugged hillside {known as the Lakes Loop Walk} in the Urris Hills.  The walk starts at a car park adjacent to the beach at the back of Lenan Bay.  The circuit is short but varied, with interesting terrain throughout and is waymarked along obvious mountain tracks.  The highlight of the walk is the sight of two beautiful lakes {Crunlough and Lough Fad} and the fabulous coastal views to Fanad Head.   The walk has a poignant note too as during World War Two a British Wellington Bomber returning to Limavady airfield crashed into the hillside killing all six crewmen on board.   The weather for the day was sunny and dry after a frosty start and an enjoyable walk was had by all.  Some members stopped on the way home at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel for well earned refreshments.
