Walks take place on alternate Saturdays and Sundays leaving Omagh Leisure Centre Car Park;  route information is given and car sharing is arranged prior to departure.

The West Tyrone Ramblers walks programme is published every six months; details of walks and any changes to the published walks programme are up loaded to the West Tyrone Ramblers website, www.westtyroneramblers.org.uk. Walk co-ordinator/s may modify or change a scheduled walk at their discretion. Named co-ordinators will complete a reconnaissance of a scheduled walk, and co-ordinate and lead that walk on the day All efforts are made to replace cancelled walks with walks of similar grades. Walk Co-ordinators will be reimbursed by Treasurer for reconnaissance costs at a rate of 20p per vehicle.

Everyone going on a West Tyrone Ramblers scheduled walk must have walking boots, wear waterproof and windproof clothing, carry water and a packed lunch in a rucksack and carry a medical information card and any pertinent medication. A small first aid pack is also useful.

Walk Co-ordinator(s) will refuse to allow any person to join a walk if they consider the person ill-equipped or unfit for that walk. If a member is in doubt about his/her ability to complete a walk, it is advisable to contact the walk co-ordinator in advance. Contact details for walk co-ordinators are given in the walks programme and on the web site.

Children under 18 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult member.

Dogs are not permitted on West Tyrone Rambler walks.

All walkers are expected to keep together throughout the walk and not to go ahead of the walk co-ordinator/s. Under no circumstances should anyone leave the group without informing the walk co-ordinator and agreeing a safe alternative route.

All West Tyrone Ramblers are expected to behave in a respectable and respectful manner towards other walkers in the group, onlookers, the land walked upon and the environment. All Ramblers follow the Country Code.

In the event of an accident, the walk co-ordinator(s) shall give full details of the incident in an accident report form to the Secretary. This report should include the names of all members involved in the incident.

Members should express any concerns about any aspect of a walk to the walk co-ordinator(s); no member should be forced to do anything he/she feels is a risk.

Whilst every effort is made by the West Tyrone Ramblers to maintain the safety of the walk groups, it should be understood that each member taking part in a walk, does so at his/her own risk and the West Tyrone Ramblers cannot be held responsible for any mishap or injury howsoever caused.

Walks are graded C or B.   Grade C walks are mainly on roads, paths or tracks and usually last for 3-4 hours;  as such they are suitable for most reasonably fit adults.  Grade B walks can involve ascending and descending on rough wet ground with no defined paths for 4-5 hours;  as such they are more suitable for experienced walkers with a good level of fitness.
