On Saturday 28th September 2019 ten ramblers travelled to Barnesmore Gap Co. Donegal. Having parked on the road which leads to Castlederg we walked out along the road to a gate which brought us onto a forest track. The track meandered through part of Killeter Forest and out onto the open hill. We followed this track to the summit of Barnesmore (451m.). Here we had lunch and enjoyed the excellent views of the hinterland and the surrounding Donegal Hills. On our descent we left the forest track and came down through an area of deep boggy hill on the edge of the forest. After crossing a fence and a short area of heather we joined a track which brought us past a large quarry and back to our starting point. We enjoyed very favourable weather and the walk was approximately 7.5 miles.
